Instead, the woman was discharged to home only to return to the ER two days later with clots in both legs, lungs, and aorta. She claimed that the delay in diagnosis and subsequent re-exposure to heparin during her admission resulted in the loss of her leg below the knee. She was readmitted in stable condition. She was found unconscious and unresponsive less than 24 hours later.
