This honor is the latest chapter in what has been an extraordinary year for Susan. She was the inaugural recipient of The Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys Excellence in Advocacy Award. Then, alongside her husband and law partner, she received the Thomas Henrietta Distinguished Advocate Award—one of the highest honors bestowed by the Ohio Association for Justice. Just a few months ago, they achieved a historic legal victory: the first appellate decision in Ohio since tort reform caps were enacted in 2003 to hold those caps unconstitutional for catastrophically injured victims. A generation has passed since any Ohio appellate court had a chance to take a stand on this issue—and it was Susan who led the charge.
Her leadership doesn’t stop in the courtroom. She was named National Co-Chair of the Membership Committee for the International Society of Barristers, a global organization of the world’s finest trial lawyers, and is in her second year leading the Ohio Association for Justice Women’s Caucus, championing equity, mentorship, and the next generation of female trial lawyers.
